EL PASO – A group of former ASARCO employees say the cleanup of the former smelting site is flawed, and hope that something will be done before the remediation process is complete.
The former employees say they will release new information about how ASARCO did away with contaminants on-site.
They also call upon the Environmental Protection Agency to oversee the remediation process.
Many of the employees say they witnessed the burying of toxic chemicals, and have made a connection to the current health problems they say they now suffer from.
Tonight on NewsChannel 9 at 5, 6, and 10, we will talk with the former employees about what they witnessed and what they want to see happen. We’ll also talk with city leaders to see if this raises any concerns for them.
