EL PASO – Demolition of the ASARCO site will begin in just a couple of weeks.

Right now, the contractors are moving in; that will take a week or two.

The first things to go at ASARCO will be the acid storage tanks, the oxygen plant, and the wastewater treatment facility.

The big smoke stacks that nobody can miss driving on I-10 will stay up for several more months. From start to finish, demolition should take about a year.
