UTEP plans on surveying ASARCO land

EL PASO, Texas — According to the University of Texas System Board of Regents meeting agenda, the University of Texas at El Paso is looking to purchase the 443 acres of land that belongs to ASARCO.

The agenda states that the board of regents on Thursday will consider purchasing the former smelter site from ASARCO Texas Custodial Trust.

The site is at Paisano Drive and Interstate 10 East.

The purchase would be for the future expansion of UTEP, according to the agenda.
